PM Modi conferred Uzbekistan’s highest honour for foreign leaders
Tashkent: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday conferred with Uzbekistan’s highest honour for foreign leaders, the “Oliy Darajali Do’stlik” Order (Order of Highest Friendship), by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his contribution to strengthening ties between the two countries.
The honour was presented to Modi during his state visit to Uzbekistan and reflects the growing depth of the India-Uzbekistan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Accepting the award, Modi dedicated the honour to the 1.4 billion people of India, describing it as a symbol of the enduring friendship between the two countries and their civilisations.
The Prime Minister said the appreciation expressed by President Mirziyoyev was a tribute to the age-old friendship and shared heritage of India and Uzbekistan.

Modi also said the honour brought with it an added responsibility for India to work closely with Uzbekistan as partners of the Global South for the betterment of humanity.
The conferment of the “Oliy Darajali Do’stlik” Order underscores the longstanding civilisational links between India and Uzbekistan and the steadily expanding cooperation between the two nations.
