Om Birla, Egyptian Delegation Chief Discuss Stronger Bilateral Ties
New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met Egyptian MP and delegation head Sameh Shoukry ahead of the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum 2026 to discuss strengthening India-Egypt relations.
Birla highlighted the longstanding ties between the two ancient civilisations and the renewed momentum in bilateral relations following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Egypt in 2023.
The discussions focused on expanding parliamentary cooperation through Parliamentary Friendship Groups and strengthening collaboration in pharmaceuticals, chemicals and industry.
Birla also appreciated Egypt’s strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack and stressed the importance of united global efforts to combat terrorism.
Expressing confidence in the partnership, Birla said stronger parliamentary engagement would further deepen cooperation between the two countries and advance their shared aspirations for peace, progress and prosperity.
