States can seek funds for new Ayush colleges, hospitals under National Ayush Mission: Centre
New Delhi: The Centre on Tuesday said it has released ₹6,406.99 crore to states and Union Territories under the National Ayush Mission (NAM) between 2014-15 and 2025-26 to strengthen Ayush infrastructure across the country.
The Ministry of Ayush clarified that public health is a State subject, and the establishment of new Ayush institutes, integrated hospitals and other healthcare infrastructure is the responsibility of state governments. However, financial assistance is provided under the centrally sponsored NAM scheme based on proposals submitted by states through their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs).
The scheme supports the establishment of new government Ayush colleges in underserved states, setting up of 10-, 30- and 50-bed integrated Ayush hospitals, upgrading existing Ayush hospitals and dispensaries, constructing new dispensary buildings and operationalising Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Ayush).
The Centre said states, including Odisha, can avail financial assistance by submitting eligible proposals in accordance with the National Ayush Mission guidelines.
