27 Indian Sailors Safe After Limpet Mine Attack on Oil Tanker in Strait of Hormuz
New Delhi: Twenty-seven Indian sailors aboard a Panama-flagged oil tanker, MT Louis 1, are safe after a suspected limpet mine attack in the Strait of Hormuz, the Centre said.
According to reports, unidentified attackers attached a magnetic explosive to the vessel’s hull before fleeing. The blast triggered a fire in the engine room, which was brought under control by the crew. However, the tanker’s operations were disrupted.

The incident comes a day after a similar attack on another vessel in the region on October 29. A total of 29 Indian sailors aboard the two vessels are reported to be safe.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the government was in touch with the ship management companies and closely monitoring the safety of the Indian crew members.
