Centre releases ₹2,117.85 crore SDRF funds to seven flood-hit states

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved the advance release of ₹2,117.85 crore from the Centre’s share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to assist seven states affected by floods during the ongoing southwest monsoon. The Centre said the assistance would strengthen relief, rescue and rehabilitation efforts in the affected regions.

According to the Home Ministry, the Centre has been closely monitoring the flood situation since the onset of the monsoon and has extended all possible support, including the pre-deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and logistical assistance from the Ministry of Defence wherever required.

Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) have already been sent to Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to assess the damage. Two separate IMCT visits have been conducted in Assam due to the severity of the floods, while another team is being constituted for Nagaland following a request from the state government.

Of the seven affected states, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Nagaland had already received the first instalment of SDRF for the 2026-27 financial year. The Centre has now approved the advance release of the second instalment for Himachal Pradesh and Odisha, while Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat and Maharashtra have been sanctioned the first instalment by relaxing documentary requirements.

The approved assistance includes ₹44.55 crore for Arunachal Pradesh, ₹379.35 crore for Assam, ₹500 crore each for Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha, and ₹193.95 crore for Himachal Pradesh.

The Centre reiterated its commitment to extending all necessary assistance to the states and said it would continue to monitor the flood situation closely.
