Commercial LPG cylinder price hiked by ₹9.50; domestic users get relief
New Delhi: Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have once again increased the price of commercial LPG cylinders, raising the cost of a 19-kg cylinder by ₹9.50. The price of the 5-kg commercial cylinder has also gone up by ₹2.
However, there is some relief for household consumers as the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged.
In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased from ₹2,738 to ₹2,747.50. In Mumbai, the rate has gone up from ₹2,691.50 to ₹2,701, while in Chennai it has increased from ₹2,906 to ₹2,916.50. Prices have also been revised in other cities, including Kolkata.
The latest hike is expected to increase operating costs for businesses that rely heavily on commercial LPG cylinders, including hotels, restaurants, dhabas, bakeries and catering establishments. The higher input cost could eventually have an impact on the prices of food items and snacks.
Commercial LPG prices revised every month
OMCs typically review LPG prices on the first day of every month, taking into account factors such as international crude oil and gas prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate.
The September increase, however, is relatively modest compared with the reductions seen in the previous two months. Commercial LPG cylinder prices were cut by more than ₹200 in July and August, providing significant relief to commercial consumers.
For domestic LPG users, the unchanged price of the 14.2-kg cylinder means there will be no immediate additional burden on household cooking fuel expenses from the latest monthly revision.
