Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to send a central team to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Arnab, which has affected several districts in the state.

In a letter to Shah, Naidu said the cyclone had caused damage to crops, houses, roads and electricity poles. More than 28,000 people from vulnerable areas have been evacuated to rehabilitation centres as a precautionary measure. No casualties have been reported so far, the chief minister said.

According to preliminary estimates cited in the letter, around 180 houses have been damaged and more than 220 trees have fallen on roads, disrupting transport in several areas. Roads along parts of the coastline have also suffered damage, while electricity supply has been disrupted at multiple locations.

Konaseema, Kakinada, East Godavari, West Godavari, Anakapalli and Krishna districts have been among the worst-affected areas, Naidu said.

The state government has activated control rooms and the State Emergency Operations Centre to monitor the situation, coordinate emergency response measures and oversee relief operations.

Naidu requested the Union home minister to arrange for a central team to visit the affected areas at the earliest and assess the extent of the damage.
