Dammam: Two people, including an Indian resident and a Saudi national, were killed and eight others injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, according to the country’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

GACA said airport operations, which were disrupted following the attack, have resumed and air traffic has returned to normal.

Separately, Saudi air defence forces intercepted drones targeting the Shaybah oil field, the Ministry of Energy said. Two people were reportedly killed in the incident.

The attacks have heightened concerns over the security of Saudi Arabia’s airports and energy infrastructure. Reports have also referred to an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that allegedly killed one person and injured 11 others. Another incident on October 10 reportedly left 12 people dead and more than 300 injured.

Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for attacks on several Saudi targets over the past 48 hours, including King Fahd Airport, Abha International Airport, the Defence Ministry in Riyadh and Saudi Aramco facilities in the Yanbu region. These claims have not been independently verified.

Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted four drones over the Riyadh and Medina regions.
