Gurugram: The Union Ministry of Education organised a National Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Meet for School Education in Gurugram on Saturday, bringing together corporate organisations, state governments and implementing agencies to explore ways to strengthen government and government-aided schools.

The meet was organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) through Vidyanjali, a school volunteer programme aimed at promoting community and private-sector participation in education.

A key feature was the CSR-State Interaction, which brought together corporate representatives, state nodal officers, ministry officials, the Programme Management Unit and the National Informatics Centre. The discussions focused on connecting CSR organisations with states and identifying projects based on the specific requirements of schools.

Several states and Union territories presented their experiences under Vidyanjali. Andhra Pradesh highlighted the programme’s implementation, Karnataka showcased its school adoption initiative, Mizoram spoke about community participation, while Delhi presented innovations and related activities.

Implementing agencies, including ChildFund India, SARD India, Inspiring Seniors Foundation and ETI Foundation, shared their experiences in facilitating corporate participation and supporting school development.

Representatives of the State Bank of India and Bharti Airtel also presented their initiatives to strengthen school infrastructure and resources and improve learning environments.

Additional Secretary of DoSEL Archana Sharma Awasthi, Economic Advisor A Srija and other senior ministry officials attended the meet.

Vidyanjali provides a digital platform connecting government and government-aided schools with volunteers, organisations and CSR partners. Through its CSR and Adopt-a-School modules, organisations can contribute services, activities and assets to address school requirements and support development.
