Nana Patekar remembered for ‘Parinda’, ‘Krantiveer’ as leaders pay tributes

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expressed condolences on the death of veteran actor and Padma Shri awardee Nana Patekar.

Modi, in a social media post, recalled Patekar’s distinctive acting style, intensity and versatility. He said the actor brought exceptional creativity to every role and that many of the characters he portrayed would be remembered for generations.

“Nana Patekar was one of the few actors known for his intensity, unique style and commanding presence,” Modi said, also recalling the actor’s forthright nature in expressing his views.

The Prime Minister said Patekar had made significant contributions to Hindi and Marathi cinema and his death had left an “irreparable void”. He conveyed his condolences to Patekar’s family, friends and fans.

‘Irreparable loss to world of art’

Kumaraswamy remembered Patekar as a brilliant actor and patriot, recalling his performances in films including Parinda, Krantiveer, Natsamrat, Prahaar and Agni Sakshi.

He also highlighted Patekar’s work for farmers and rural communities through the Naam Foundation.

“He was a great artist who won the hearts of millions of fans with his natural acting and powerful, resonant dialogue delivery. His passing is an irreparable loss to the world of art,” Kumaraswamy said.

Shivakumar recalls Kannada film ‘Yaksha’

Shivakumar expressed deep sorrow over Patekar’s demise and recalled his contribution to Indian cinema through his distinctive performances.

He also noted that Patekar had acted in the Kannada film Yaksha.

Describing his death as an irreparable loss to Indian cinema, Shivakumar conveyed his condolences to Patekar’s family, relatives and fans and prayed for strength for them to cope with the loss.
