Qatar-India remittance service via UPI launched through Qatar Post outlets
New Delhi: Indians living in Qatar can now send money directly to UPI-enabled bank accounts in India through Qatar Post outlets under a new digital postal remittance service powered by UPI.
The PosTransfer powered by UPI service became operational in Qatar on August 15, coinciding with India’s Independence Day. The initiative has been developed jointly by Qatar Post, India Post, the Universal Postal Union’s Interconnection Platform (UPU-IP) and NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL).
Money can be transferred instantly to India
Customers can initiate a transfer at a Qatar Post outlet by providing the recipient’s UPI ID and required identification details. The beneficiary must first activate the facility to receive foreign inward remittances through their UPI app.

Once activated, the money is credited instantly to the recipient’s UPI-enabled bank account.
Transactions can range from QAR 10 to QAR 4,000, subject to a maximum equivalent of ₹1 lakh per transaction. A flat service charge of QAR 15 applies to each transaction.
The service is expected to benefit Qatar’s large Indian community by providing an accessible and secure channel for sending money home.
India Post is also working with postal operators in other countries to establish additional PosTransfer powered by UPI corridors, further expanding digital cross-border remittance connectivity for Indians abroad.
