MUMBAI: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday, hours after being discharged from a hospital in Pune, following fresh health concerns.

His daughter and Baramati Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule confirmed the development through a social media post, stating that her father had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

The 85-year-old veteran politician was initially admitted to Pune’s Ruby Hall Clinic on November 2 after complaining of cough and chest pain. He underwent medical examinations and was kept under observation.

At the time, Sule had said that her father’s condition was stable and that doctors were conducting the necessary medical tests. He was subsequently discharged from the hospital on Wednesday after his condition was assessed.

However, his return to hospital within a few hours raised concerns about his health. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for further medical attention.

The latest development comes amid concerns over the health of the veteran leader, who has remained an influential figure in Maharashtra politics for several decades.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken to Pawar over the telephone when he was discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic. The Prime Minister enquired about his health and wished him a speedy recovery, Pawar’s close aides said.

Pawar, 85, is among Maharashtra’s most prominent political leaders and has held several key positions during his long political career.

Further details about his health condition and the reason for his readmission are awaited.
