Shivraj Singh Chouhan Slams Kharge Over Remarks on PM Modi’s Late Father, Seeks His Resignation
New Delhi: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has strongly criticised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over alleged remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late father, saying such language goes against Indian cultural values, traditions and public decency.
Expressing distress over the comments, Chouhan said senior political leaders were expected to maintain decorum, particularly when referring to a deceased person. He said Indian traditions demand respect for the departed, even when differences or hostility exist.

“What has happened to the Congress party?” Chouhan asked, alleging that repeated electoral defeats had left its leaders bewildered and prompted them to make inappropriate statements. He also accused the party of displaying a pattern of such conduct.
Addressing Sonia Gandhi, Chouhan questioned whether Kharge had made the alleged remarks at her behest or on the instructions of Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi family.
He further asked whether Kharge would resign if the remarks had not been made at their direction.
