Smriti Mandhana named captain for India women’s Zimbabwe series

Mumbai: The BCCI has announced the Indian women’s squads for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, with Smriti Mandhana named captain for both the T20I and ODI teams.

The tour, beginning October 16, will feature three T20Is and three ODIs. Shafali Verma has been appointed vice-captain of the T20I side, while Deepti Sharma will serve as vice-captain in the ODI team.

Smriti Mandhana (captain), Shafali Verma (vice-captain), Nikki Prasad, Harmanpreet Kaur, Anushka Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), G. Kamalini (wicketkeeper), Deepti Sharma, Prema Rawat, Sri Charani, Nandini Sharma, Kranthi Gowd, Arundhati Reddy, Jintimani Kalita and Minnu Mani. All three T20Is will be played in Raipur.

Mandhana to lead ODI side

Mandhana will also lead the ODI squad, with Deepti Sharma as vice-captain. The three ODIs will be played in Vadodara.

India women’s ODI squad: Smriti Mandhana (captain), Shafali Verma, Pratheeka Raval, Harmanpreet Kaur, Harleen Deol, Tejal Hasabnis, Deepti Sharma (vice-captain), Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Yastika Bhatia (wicketkeeper), Vaishnavi Sharma, Nandini Sharma, Sri Charani, Kranthi Gowd, Sayali Sathgare and Renuka Thakur.

The Zimbabwe tour will give India an opportunity to test its squad across both T20I and ODI formats.
