Sourav Gurjar booked, arrested in Hyderabad following woman’s cheating complaint

HYDERABAD: Actor and professional wrestler Sourav Gurjar, best known for playing Bhim in the television series Mahabharat, has been arrested by Hyderabad police following a complaint by a woman alleging that he deceived her with a promise of marriage.

The complaint was registered at the Gachibowli police station, following which police conducted an investigation and arrested the actor.

According to the woman’s complaint, she first became acquainted with Gurjar through Instagram in 2021. The two subsequently began communicating on WhatsApp and reportedly met in person for the first time on December 25 that year.

The woman alleged that Gurjar had promised to marry her and assured her that she would receive the rights and respect of a wife after their marriage. She claimed that she relied on these assurances and returned to India from the US.

She further alleged that Gurjar had discussed starting a business together in India and encouraged her to leave her job in the US. However, differences reportedly emerged between the two later, particularly over the issue of marriage.

The woman has alleged that whenever she pressed Gurjar to marry her, he would block her. She also accused him of subjecting her to mental and physical harassment.

Police have taken up the complaint and are investigating the allegations. Further details regarding the case and the sections invoked are awaited.

Gurjar rose to prominence with his portrayal of Bhim in Mahabharat, where his imposing physique and screen presence made him a familiar face among television audiences. He also appeared as Zor in Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva.

The allegations are currently part of the police investigation, and the charges against Gurjar are yet to be established in court.
