CWG 2026: Asmita Dey wins Women’s 48 kg Judo Gold
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Asmita Dey on winning the gold medal in the Women’s 48 kg Judo event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister described Asmita’s victory as a “golden performance” and said her remarkable achievement would inspire more youngsters to take up judo.
Modi said Asmita Dey’s memorable performance would play an important role in making the sport more popular across the country and praised her determination and excellence on the international stage.

“A golden performance indeed! Proud of Asmita Dey for winning a Gold in the Judo Women’s 48KG Final! This performance will always be remembered and will contribute towards Judo becoming even more popular. Best wishes for her endeavours ahead,” the Prime Minister wrote.
He also conveyed his best wishes to Asmita Dey for continued success in her future competitions.
