Aman Sehrawat stages late comeback to win 57kg wrestling gold
NAGOYA: India continued its strong run at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, with wrestler Aman Sehrawat clinching gold in the men’s 57kg freestyle category to take the country’s gold medal tally to 20.
Sehrawat defeated North Korea’s Song Han 11-7 in the final after trailing 7-6 with less than a minute remaining. The Indian wrestler produced a decisive late surge, scoring five successive points to turn the contest around and secure the gold medal.
The victory came on a day when India added four gold medals to its tally. Earlier, Mysuru golfer Pranavi Urs won gold, while Kunkum secured the top spot in recurve archery. India’s men’s cricket team also clinched gold after defeating traditional rivals Pakistan.

Sehrawat’s comeback in the final added another gold to India’s medal haul. Despite being behind in the closing stages, he maintained his composure and capitalised on the final exchanges to seal an 11-7 victory.
The gold also underlined India’s medal-winning campaign in wrestling at the Games, with Sehrawat producing one of the day’s notable comebacks.
With the latest four gold medals, India’s overall gold tally reached 20 at the ongoing Asian Games in Nagoya.
