Antim Panghal delivers stellar show to win Asian Games silver
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and senior BJP leaders on Sunday congratulated Indian wrestler Antim Panghal on winning the silver medal in the women’s 53kg freestyle wrestling event at the Asian Games 2026.
Modi described Panghal’s performance as exemplary and praised her for delivering a wonderful performance. In a post on X, the Prime Minister’s Office conveyed his congratulations and wished the wrestler continued success, expressing hope that she would bring more laurels to the country and inspire other athletes.
President Droupadi Murmu also extended her warm congratulations to Panghal, praising her determination and composure throughout the demanding competition. She expressed hope that the silver medal would motivate the wrestler to achieve greater heights in her sporting career.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Panghal on securing what he described as India’s first-ever silver medal in the women’s 53kg wrestling category at the Asian Games. He said her achievement deserved recognition and wished her continued success.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin also congratulated the wrestler, describing the medal as a notable achievement that reflected her dedication and brought pride to Indian wrestling.
