Asian Games 2026: India win men’s compound team gold with thrilling China victory

Nagoya: Indian archers Kushal Dalal, Sahil Rajesh Jadhav and Ganesh Maniratnam Thirumuru won the gold medal in the men’s compound team event at the Asian Games 2026 after edging China 238-237 in a thrilling final on Wednesday.

India staged a comeback in the final to complete a hat-trick of compound archery gold medals at the Games.

Earlier in the day, India’s women’s compound team of Chikitha Taniparthi, Prithika Pradeep and Jyothi Surekha Vennam defeated China 238-234 to retain their gold medal.

India had also secured gold in the mixed compound team event through Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav. The mixed-team victory also secured an LA 2028 Olympics quota place for India.

PM congratulates Indian archers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Kushal Dalal, Sahil Jadhav and Ganesh Maniratnam Thirumuru on their gold-medal performance.

Modi praised the trio’s accuracy and teamwork in the closely fought final and described their performance as a memorable achievement for Indian archery.

He also extended his best wishes to the three archers for their future competitions.
