Ayodhya Sets New Record With Over 30 Lakh Diyas at 10th Deepotsav
Ayodhya: Ayodhya was illuminated with more than 30 lakh earthen lamps during the 10th edition of Deepotsav, with diyas lighting up 56 ghats along the Saryu river as part of the grand celebrations.
More than 35,000 students and volunteers, including those from Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University and the NCC, participated in arranging the lamps.
A Maha Aarti was performed on the riverbank by 2,151 Vedic scholars and priests. The celebrations also featured a display of 2,100 indigenous drones depicting scenes from the Ramayana, while around 2,500 artists staged cultural programmes across 12 platforms.

Ramlila performances by artists from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos and South Africa added an international touch to the event. An eight-minute laser show, a 20-minute projection mapping display, 22 Ramayana-themed tableaux and musical fireworks were among the major attractions.
The festival also provided business opportunities for local potters and rural artisans.
Deepotsav began in 2017 with 1.71 lakh lamps. In 2025, the event recorded 26.17 lakh diyas. This year’s celebrations crossed the 30-lakh mark, setting a new record, according to the organisers.
