Beyond constituency lines: Hassan farmers honour C.C. Patil for road projects
Hassan: In a gesture of gratitude that crossed constituency boundaries, farmers and residents of villages in Hassan district honoured Gadag MLA and former minister C.C. Patil for development works facilitated during his tenure as Karnataka’s Public Works Department (PWD) minister.
The recognition came after road projects undertaken in villages under Narayanapura Gram Panchayat were completed. Patil, who represents Gadag district, had facilitated the construction of concrete roads and other PWD works in the area while serving as minister.
Farmers stop MLA’s car
On Saturday, September 26, Patil was travelling from Balehonnur to Bengaluru through Belur when residents and farmers of Yakashetti Halli and neighbouring villages learnt about his route.
They stopped his vehicle and welcomed him before honouring him at Yakashetti Halli. The villagers expressed their appreciation for the road infrastructure works carried out during Patil’s tenure as PWD minister.
Gratitude beyond constituency lines
The gesture stood out as the development works were carried out outside Patil’s own constituency and in a district represented by a different set of elected representatives.
Residents said the completed roads had made a difference to connectivity in their villages and recalled Patil’s role in facilitating the projects.
The felicitation also highlighted how local communities sometimes remember development initiatives beyond political and constituency boundaries, with residents choosing to acknowledge the public representatives associated with works that directly benefited their villages.
The event drew attention locally as an instance of villagers expressing gratitude for infrastructure projects completed during a previous government’s tenure, irrespective of the change in political administration.
