India-Russia ties: Jaishankar, Putin discuss fertiliser supplies, energy cooperation
MOSCOW: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday and discussed key areas of the India-Russia bilateral relationship, including trade, energy, fertiliser supplies, nuclear cooperation and economic ties.
Jaishankar said economic cooperation between the two countries has witnessed significant growth. He also referred to the meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission, where several areas of economic cooperation were reviewed.
Putin assured India that Russia was prepared to further increase the supply of fertilisers and would continue meeting India’s requirements, according to Russia’s state-run TASS news agency.

The assurance assumes significance for India’s agriculture sector, where a steady supply of fertilisers is crucial for farm production.
Jaishankar is on a two-day visit to Russia, during which discussions are focused on strengthening economic, energy and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting with Putin also comes ahead of the expected visit of the Russian president to New Delhi for the upcoming BRICS summit next month.
The talks are expected to provide further momentum to India-Russia cooperation across trade, energy, agriculture and strategic sectors.
