Indian community in Qatar bids emotional farewell to Ambassador Vipul
Doha: The Indian community in Qatar accorded a warm and emotional farewell to Indian Ambassador Vipul as he concluded his successful three-year tenure in the Gulf nation.
The farewell ceremony, held at the ICC Ashoka Hall in Doha, was jointly organised by the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), Indian Sports Centre (ISC) and the Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC).
Leaders and representatives from various Indian community organisations felicitated Ambassador Vipul, describing him as the “People’s Ambassador” and praising his efforts in addressing the concerns of the Indian diaspora in Qatar.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Vipul said the Indian community of over 8.3 lakh in Qatar is among the most disciplined and respected expatriate communities in the world. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Qatar and the Emir of Qatar’s visit to India during his tenure had significantly strengthened bilateral ties between the two countries.
He also appreciated the contribution of several Indian community organisations, including Karnataka Sangha Qatar, in preserving and promoting Indian culture, language and traditions overseas.
The event was attended by hundreds of members of the Indian diaspora, including A.P. Manikanthan (ICC President), Shanavas Bawa (ICBF President), E.P. Abdul Rahman (ISC President) and Taha Mohammed (IBPC President).
Office-bearers and advisers of Karnataka Sangha Qatar also met Ambassador Vipul, thanked him for his continued support to the Indian community, Kannada language, cultural initiatives and social welfare activities, and wished him success in his future assignments.
