Nagoya: India’s medal campaign at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya received another boost, with three athletes associated with KIIT and KISS winning two silver and one bronze medal.

Sawan Barwal, Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Prachi Choudhary contributed to India’s medal tally through their performances in athletics.

Barwal won silver in the men’s marathon after clocking 2:11:37, setting a new national record. His performance also ended India’s 44-year wait for a medal in the Asian Games marathon.

Tajinderpal Singh Toor secured silver in the men’s shot put with a throw of 20.64 metres. The result extended his record of winning medals at three consecutive Asian Games. He had previously won gold medals at the last two editions.

Prachi Choudhary completed the trio of medal winners with a bronze in the women’s 400m. She clocked 53.21 seconds to secure a place on the podium.

Six medals for KIIT-KISS athletes

According to KIIT-KISS, its athletes have now won six medals for India at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games — three silver and three bronze — across five individual events and the mixed 4x400m relay.

The performances have added to the institution’s representation in India’s athletics campaign at the Games.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Prachi Choudhary on winning the bronze medal in the women’s 400m.

In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister praised her performance and said her run had earned India a place on the Asian Games podium. He also extended his best wishes to the athlete for her future competitions.

The latest results add another chapter to India’s athletics campaign at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with Indian athletes continuing to compete across track and field events.
