New Delhi: The Department of Posts has released two commemorative postage stamps to raise awareness about breast cancer and highlight the importance of early detection and timely treatment.

The special souvenir sheet was unveiled at Dak Bhawan by Director General Postal Services Manisha Sinha and Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava in the presence of senior officials.

Sinha stressed the importance of regular screening and early diagnosis, urging families to encourage women to seek timely medical advice. Srivastava highlighted the government’s focus on preventive healthcare and called for greater awareness about screening for breast, oral and cervical cancers.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in India, with around two lakh new cases reported annually. Screening services are available through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and community health centres, with referral and treatment facilities at district and tertiary hospitals.

The Department of Posts, in collaboration with Fortis Hospital, also organised awareness sessions on breast and cervical cancer, besides demonstrations on basic life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The commemorative stamps are available at philately bureaus across the country and through the e-Post Office portal.
