Kochi Police Commissioner’s Transfer Not Linked to Cheranalloor Incident: Kerala Home Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has clarified that the transfer of Kochi City Police Commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh is not connected to the Cheranalloor incident, describing it as a routine administrative decision.

Chennithala said a transfer should not be viewed as a punishment and maintained that he had never stated that the commissioner was being shifted in connection with the incident.

The minister said action had been taken against those found responsible based on a report submitted by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP).

Rejecting attempts to link the commissioner’s transfer to the incident, Chennithala reiterated that it was part of the normal administrative process.
